Dimensions: L X W X T (9” X 6¼” X 3”)
Description: used to create the primary reference responses for UT weld inspection. The smooth scanning surfaces seen on the majority of general-purpose test blocks, such as the IIW or DSC, are not present on ASME Basic Calibration Blocks because they are not designed to be a perfect replica of actual components. Instead, all of the surfaces of our Basic Calibration Blocks are media blasted to produce a rough surface texture that is more reminiscent of actual inspection conditions.
Geometry: Block has three side holes that are at least 1.5" deep and 3/16" in diameter. 1, 4, and 34T are the locations of the holes through the thickness. has two EDM notches that are 2%T deep, 1/4" at their widest point, and 1.0" at their shortest point. according to Fig. T-434.2.1 of ASME Sec. V Art. 4
