Dimensions: Pipe OD & Thickness based on customer requirements
Description: These piping calibration blocks are designed for Phased Array UT (PAUT). The DAKS TOOLS block design differs from the original ASME design in several aspects, including the addition of extra-axial and arc length, a different notch arrangement, and a 10° angled cut on one end for blocks larger than 5 NPS (Nominal Pipe Size). These adjustments reduce undesirable noise from the back wall during DAC/TCG calibrations using Phased Array UT equipment. Each calibration block matches the nominal dimensions, schedule, heat treatment, and material of the tested object. We maintain a substantial inventory of raw materials for machining these standards, though customer-supplied materials can also be used.
The Phased Array Pipe Calibration Block features:
- Four EDM notches: two axial and two circumferential, on both the OD and ID.
- Notches are 8-11% of the nominal wall thickness deep, 1/4" wide at their widest point (ranging mostly between 0.030" and 0.040"), and 1.000" long at their shortest point.
- Blocks larger than 5" NPS are cut to a 180°/120°/90°/60° arc section, while blocks smaller than 5" NPS remain at 360° (depending on nominal pipe size).
- Each block has an axial length of at least 12" or 10T (10 times the nominal wall thickness), whichever is greater.
- Manufactured with PAUT modifications in compliance with ASME Section V, Article 4, Figure T-43.3.
