Special long variant for phased array or 60/70° transducers. The extra distance enables a complete skip to the "highest" notch. used to create the primary reference responses for UT weld inspection. The smooth scanning surfaces seen on the majority of general-purpose test blocks, such as the IIW or DSC, are not present on ASME Basic Calibration Blocks because they are not designed to be a perfect replica of actual components. Instead, all of the surfaces of our Basic Calibration Blocks are media blasted to produce a rough surface texture that is more reminiscent of actual inspection conditions.
